The holidays have officially arrived at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, where country music star Thomas Rhett flipped the switch at the luxury resort’s first-ever tree lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5. The 38-foot spectacle is the centerpiece of the Oasis Ice Rink – the largest real ice rink on the Las Vegas Strip – and rink-side winter village.
A crowd of Fontainebleau Las Vegas guests, residents and resort members gathered at Oasis Ice Rink. Holiday cocktails flowed, and s’mores were roasted by the fire as Vegas Golden Nights cast members Chance and the Vegas Vivas!, Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ beloved poodle Fifi, The Grinch and Santa Claus mixed and mingled in the cold autumn night air.
After opening remarks from Fontainebleau Las Vegas Senior Vice President of Entertainment Fedor Banuchi, Rhett, dressed in tight brown jeans, white T-shirt, blue denim jacket and black ballcap, took the stage to light Oasis Ice Rink’s Christmas tree.
“This is my first time in Vegas in December … and this is also my first-ever tree lighting, so it is an honor to be here,” Rhett told the crowd before flipping the switch. “I’m excited to play four shows here and hope to see you all there. This place is amazing!”
Rhett’s appearance at the inaugural ceremony came just ahead of his four scheduled concerts at nearby BleauLive Theater on Dec. 6-7 and 13-14. Tickets to the shows, including exclusive preshow meet-and-greet and hotel stay packages, were available at FontainebleauLasVegas.com.
Rhett’s opening night Dec. 6 was a showcase for his showmanship, likeability and great voice. Alongside his hits “Die a Happy Man” and “Marry Me,” another highlight was Rhett seamlessly performing hits from the 1950s and ’60s to today. Yes, he performed hit songs by Elvis Presley and ’N Sync, among others.
Winter Wonderland Presented by Fontainebleau Rewards is a resort-wide seasonal transformation that includes Oasis Ice Rink, outdoor holiday movie screenings, Navidad Azul Christmas bar, Santa Brunch at La Fontaine, family-friendly concerts and more.
