Glist Entertainment, in collaboration with Salvatore Fiorentino of F2F Consulting, is presenting a two-night showcase March 7 and 8 at Harrah’s Las Vegas with award-winning deaf actress Liz Tannebaum. Marlee Matlin, the youngest woman to receive an Oscar for best actress in “Children of a Lesser God,” is supporting her fellow deaf actress by attending the March 8 show.
Tannebaum, a comic of stage and screen, will go joke-to-joke with the four cast members of “Menopause The Musical” while performing in American Sign Language. Each of the actresses will have an ASL interpreter, and every hearing, deaf and hard-of-hearing audience member will have access to captions.
“We’re honored to be connecting a hearing, deaf and hard-of-hearing audience through entertainment in this groundbreaking, meaningful and first-of-its kind event on the Las Vegas Strip,” producers Kathi and Alan Glist said. A portion of the discounted ticket price ($60, fees may apply) will be donated to Sammy’s DEN. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.
Nevada currently lacks a dedicated deaf center that serves and empowers the deaf and hard of hearing. Sammy’s DEN, in partnership with its allies in the deaf community, shows no sign of slowing down in bringing a space to Las Vegas.
Sammy’s DEN will provide services including advocacy, community workshops, ASL classes, mental health resources, interpreting services, business consulting and more. It will be a welcoming and inclusive hub where deaf individuals can access the resources they need to connect, grow and thrive.
“Menopause The Musical,” starring Vita Corimbi as Earth Mother, Jacquelyn Holland-Wright as Soap Star, Lori Legacy as Iowa Housewife, Lisa Mack as Professional Woman and Cherity Harchis as understudy, brings together four women at a lingerie sale who have in common a black lace bra, memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, not enough sex, too much sex and more.
The musical parody set to classic tunes from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at Harrah’s Cabaret in Harrah’s Las Vegas and has hit a milestone – its 7,000th show, making it the longest-running musical in Las Vegas history.
