Chef Michael Vakneen’s Double Zero Pie & Pub in Chinatown recently celebrated its first anniversary and being named to the 50 Top Pizza USA list. Must-order pies: margherita, pepperoni, funghi and salami rosa. Also: 00 Spritz, Wagyu carpaccio, scallop crudo, insalada verde (with anchovies) and deconstructed cannoli. All delicious.
Evel Pie
A pizza spot in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas that pays tribute to the iconic Evel Knievel, with memorabilia and a rock-and-roll ambience. Evel Pie serves old-school New York-style pizza – whole pies or by the slice. Evel Pie also has a full bar and offers inexpensive beers.
Good Pie
Between the garlic knots and craft cocktails, Good Pie on Main Street is the pizza outpost we all need. This Brooklyn-style spot headed by Chef Vincent Rotolo has been serving up every classic pie type since 2018. The Grandma Pie, topped with gorgeous ricotta flowers plopped across the cheese, is one taste treat among many.
Metro Pizza
A Las Vegas staple for many decades on Tropicana and in Henderson. Although Metro Pizza has larger dining rooms than most pizza places, you still get a homegrown New York-style pie and ambience that are incredible. Must-order: The New York-style plain cheese pizza. A classic from childhood.
Northside Nathan’s Detroit Pizza
Detroit style in Las Vegas! If you’ve ever had Detroit-style pizza, you know what we’re talking about: focaccia style, square-pan pizza with caramelized edges. Crispy wings and a Midwest ambience make this place at 7531 W. Lake Mead Blvd. a no-frills go-to.
Secret Pizza
This hidden gem at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas always hits the spot. New York-style pizza – from white pie to a hearty combo, there is something for everyone. Finding it, though, that’s an adventure. A little hint: It’s on the third floor. Another little hint: Look for Blue Ribbon Sushi.
Side Piece Pizza
Side Piece Pizza is New York and Sicilian styles in the food court at Red Rock Resort. By the slice or takeout, Side Piece is one of the best pizzas on the westside, as we’re fans of Chef Carlos Guerrero. And there are worse things to do than go to Nielsen’s Frozen Custard next to Side Piece afterwards.
