Grammy-winning singer-songwriters Rick Springfield and Richard Marx are bringing their “2024 Acoustic Tour” to Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort on Aug. 17, and the co-headlining performance begins at 8 p.m.
Over the past 40 years, Springfield has worn many hats as an entertainer and performer. The creator of some of the finest power pop of the 1980s, the singer-songwriter and musician has sold 25 million albums and scored 17 Top 40 hits, including “Jessie’s Girl,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “Love Somebody” and “Human Touch.”
His acting credits include “Ricki and the Flash” opposite Meryl Streep, creepy Dr. Irving Pitlor in HBO’s “True Detective,” Lucifer on The CW’s “Supernatural,” the insane Pastor Charles on FX’s “American Horror Story” and Dr. Noah Drake on ABC’s “General Hospital.” His new album “Automatic” is out now, his first album of all-new original material in five years.
Marx has sold more than 30 million albums, starting with his self-titled debut that went to No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200. The album spawned four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights” and “Don’t Mean Nothing,” which earned him a Grammy nomination.
His follow-up, 1989’s “Repeat Offender,” was even more successful, hitting No. 1 and going quadruple platinum with two No. 1 singles, “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” He has since made history as the only male artist whose first seven singles reached the Top 5 on the Billboard charts.
Marx has written on a No. 1 single in each of the last four decades, an accolade previously only reached by Michael Jackson. He has written with and for numerous artists, including Barbra Streisand, Keith Urban, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, Chicago, Natalie Cole, Kenny Loggins, Vince Gill, Daughtry, The Tubes, Martina McBride, Lifehouse, ’N Sync, Michael Bolton, Vixen and Josh Groban. He won a 2004 Song of the Year Grammy for co-writing Luther Vandross’s “Dance With My Father.”
