Another weekend ended, another year marked down on the 58th voyage of Creation Entertainment’s Star Trek Las Vegas at The Rio. The biggest and longest-running annual Star Trek convention, Trekkies the world over bid adieu and left the simmering heat of their host city.

Some things you might have missed were the varied and excellently executed cosplays. You might have seen a few Borgs, assimilated beings now part of the collective consciousness. Another guest was rolling around as Captain Pike from “Star Trek: The Original Series,” futuristic wheelchair and all.

One could not turn left or right without seeing someone in a Starfleet uniform of one generation or another. From the original series to “The Lower Decks” animated show, every Star Trek show was represented.

Panels on The Leonard Nimoy Stage featured actors from “The Original Series,” “The Next Generation,” “Space Nine” and “Voyager”: William Shatner, Walter Koenig, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, Armin Shimerman, Nana Visitor, Terry Farrell, Jeri Ryan, Tim Russ and Robert Picardo.

Autograph booths seemed to outnumber vendor stalls this year. In fact, those hoping to meet actors and get autographs were absolutely spoiled in the opportunity to talk and listen to the plethora of actors whose stories and answers to fan questions made it feel more like a family reunion than a convention.

No matter where you come from in the world or where you entered the Star Trek fandom, you were among like-minded individuals, a Trekkie family.

Very good Randy. I’m not a “Trekkie,” but did watch all the Star Treck TV episodes and movies. Keep up the good work.
