Cory Harwell, founder of Carson Kitchen, received a Key to the City from Mayor Carolyn Goodman on July 24 in recognition of his impactful contributions to the city and Downtown Las Vegas culinary scene.
Since opening in 2014, Carson Kitchen (124 S. Sixth St.) has stood as a dining experience cornerstone in downtown and has been a pivotal force in transforming the culinary scene as one of downtown’s first destination restaurants.
“This is so longtime coming to you as you’ve been so instrumental in helping us revitalize the beautiful Downtown Las Vegas, our historical and now culinary center,” Mayor Goodman said.
“This is home for me; I’m 26 years in Las Vegas. It is such an honor to be given this and to understand the impact Carson Kitchen has had on Downtown Las Vegas and Las Vegas as a whole. I thank all my staff here,” Harwell said.
Founded by Harwell in partnership with celebrity chef and his dear friend, the late Chef Kerry Simon, Carson Kitchen has garnered prestigious “best of ” recognitions from Thrillist, Eater, USA Today and Culture Trip, as well as numerous mentions and appearances on TV platforms, including A&E Networks’ “Twisted Classics.”
