For a truly unique afternoon tea experience, Electric Playhouse’s “Teatime in Wonderland” will send guests tumbling down the rabbit hole headfirst at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace through April.
In a city full of immersive entertainment, this “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”-themed event stands out because of its blend of high-tech, 360-degree projection mapping and imaginative culinary presentations by renowned Chef Keris Kuwana.
“As soon as I saw the space, I knew we could create an experience that we’ve never seen before in Vegas,” says the “Chopped” alum.
The adventure starts when The White Rabbit and Mad Hatter lead guests into the private dining room, where the walls and tables are projected with colorful flowers that bloom upon touching them.
Throughout teatime, the hand-drawn illustrations change to set the scenes based more on the novel by Lewis Carroll than the Disney movie.
The story’s most memorable components such as the “Drink Me” potion and the “Eat Me” cake (served here as a cookie) kick off the expertly crafted culinary journey that includes a choice of hot or iced tea, salad, a selection of tea sandwiches and desserts.
Additionally, elements such as The Caterpillar’s smoking hookah (with dry ice) and edible mushrooms made from Chinese steam cheese bao make whimsical additions aimed to please knowledgeable fans, who Kuwana primarily had in mind.
Although “Teatime in Wonderland” is suitable for all ages, she says that an adult audience would appreciate the storytelling the most.
“Because of the multisensory environment at Electric Playhouse, the kids are blown away,” she says. “They may not understand it completely, but it’s still fun and exciting.”
Gameplay throughout the venue before and after the event are included with your teatime ticket.
This February, Electric Playhouse has announced a special version of teatime “Love in Wonderland: A Grand Tea Experience” just in time for Valentine’s season.
This new iteration is reportedly introducing an expanded menu, special entertainment, a larger room and “more hearts during Valentine’s week, of course,” hints Kuwana.
