There’s the luxurious and modern The X Pot at The Palazzo and the new Chubby Cattle BBQ on Spring Mountain offering Wagyu and traditional Japanese ambience (it already has long lines on weekends).
There’s Chubby Cattle Hotpot on Jones with assembly-line delivery and the most casual of the four restaurants, and the new Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House also on Spring Mountain.
Chubby Cattle cultivates a dining experience that promotes technological innovation, the freshest ingredients and the art of being together. They opened their first restaurant in 2014, and their mission is to familiarize people with traditional Asian cuisine from around the world.
To know Chubby Cattle is to understand that the company is always looking to expand and improve with upcoming remodels – for example, at the already stellar The X Pot. The two newest locations, Chubby Cattle BBQ and Mikiya, are focused on offering the finest Wagyu cuts, and there are benefits for signing up for a membership, including birthday perks, discounted dinners and special menu items.

A visit to the new Chubby Cattle BBQ was a trip to Japan inside a pagoda building with sunset walls and lighting. The food and service – there’s that H word again, hospitality – were exceptional and friendly, and we loved the automated robot server who said “bye!” in giggly anime style. We loved Chubby Cattle so much that we signed up for memberships right then and there.

The owners of Chubby Group, formerly Chubby Cattle International, are Dawai “David” Zhao, Haibin “Harby” Yang and Joyce Li, with Jerry Ngo on the leadership team overseeing business development. Their restaurants also are in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Texas, with a hot new location coming to the Atlanta area.
Chubby Cattle International is a hospitality group founded in 2015 in Las Vegas by Zhao and Yang, who were named to Forbes’s 30 Under 30 in 2022 for food and beverage.
